 | Many compliments on you guys' channel. I happen to be a fan of both the Fish and Hogarth eras of Marillion. I have to take issue with you guys' broad dismissal of the entire Hogarth-era Marillion as bland, safe pop.  | There is a nice guitar solo in track 5, "Out Of This World", from about 2:33-3:09 ... but for folks who are primarily fans of metal or hard-rock, it certainly won't have the glory of anything on Clutching At Straws. By this point Marillion were experimenting with a lot of new age-y atmospheres, as opposed to the Fish era where it was all pretty much straight rock. That's ok, but it risks seeming bland on first listening, and I assure you every Marillion album since Fish left has made that first impression on me as well. | Marillion likely wouldn't have had the success they had (post-Fish, or with crowdfunding) if they'd changed the band name. Then again, there isn't a reason the four lads actually playing the instruments shouldn't be keeping the name. It's the same situation as with Pink Floyd, true, but with the important difference that Fish didn't object to their continuing as "Marillion" ... at least not in a long, drawn-out, public heated battle sort of a way....
